Man impersonating roofer tells business he needs cash for part, then flees – Chicago Tribune

The following items were taken from Park Ridge Police department reports. An arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt.

Traffic violations

Mirca Gonzalez, 25, of the 1900 block of Parkside Drive, Park Ridge, was arrested Nov. 14 for driving under the influence of alcohol, endangering a child, failing to reduce speed, operating an uninsured vehicle and using traffic lanes incorrectly on the 1700 block of Dempster Street, police said.

Clarence Bledsoe, 26, of the 8200 block of Strong Street, Norridge, was arrested Nov. 16 for driving on a suspended driver’s license, operating a vehicle without insurance and with its registration suspended and failure to display a registration decal at the intersection of Dee Road and Touhy Avenue, police said.

Dayvett Perez-Ricos, 21, of the 2800 bock of North Normandy Avenue, Chicago, was arrested Nov. 18 for failing to reduce speed to avoid an accident and operating an uninsured motor vehicle without registration at the intersection of Euclid Avenue and Northwest Highway, police said.

Theft

A catalytic converter was removed from a 2010 Toyota Prius parked on the 600 block of Talcott Road Nov. 11, police said.

A 32-foot red ladder was taken from a residence on the 1700 block of Newton Avenue Nov. 12, police said.

A man impersonating a roof maintenance worker on Nov. 16 told employees at a Dunkin’ Donuts on the 700 block of Higgins Road that he needed $263 to purchase a part to fix what he said were dangerous levels of carbon dioxide before fleeing the business with the money, police said.

A catalytic converter was removed from a 2007 GMC Envoy parked on the 1200 block of Vine Avenue Nov. 16, police said.

Found property

About 23 unopened Amazon packages were found in an alleyway garbage can on the 100 block of Knight Avenue, police said.

Criminal damage to motor vehicle

A car parked on the 2600 block of Dempster Street was scraped along the top and sides while parked in the parking lot of Maine East High School Nov. 11, police said.

A 2011 Hyundai Sonata had its rear driver’s side window smashed and driver’s seat moved while parked on the 700 block of Parkwood Avenue between Nov. 13 and Nov. 14, police said.

A 2019 Hyundai Elantra had its rear driver’s side window smashed and its driver’s side door unlocked while parked on the 900 block of Florence Drive between Nov. 13 and Nov. 14, police said.

Criminal damage to property

Two windows were shattered on the 2700 block of West Sibley Street between Nov. 11 and Nov. 14, police said.

A set of mail wall lockers were damaged in a building on the 1900 block of West Touhy Avenue between Nov. 13 and 14, police said.

Burglary

A 2014 Ford Escape was accessed while parked on the 1200 block of Beau Drive Nov. 11, but it is unclear if anything was removed from the vehicle, police said.
